Essentials

  Marker Hat/ cap

  Marker Flashlight & batteries (and batteries for anything else that might need it)

Clothing

  Marker Comfortable walking boots/shoes - preferably ones that are well worn to prevent blisters
  Marker Warm jacket and sweater
  Marker 3 Sets of hunting clothes, greenish or khaki, and 2-3 sets of casual clothes
  Marker Warm underclothes - for going out early in African winter mornings
  Marker Gloves & beanie hat - also for those early mornings
  Marker Light raincoat
  Marker Remember cammo is legal

Toiletries

  Marker Toothbrush

  Marker Your brand name toiletries that you can't do without!
  Marker Shampoo, washcloth etc.

Medical

  Marker Malaria tablets (remember you usually need to start the course BEFORE you leave home) – Not necessary for South Africa

  Marker Diarrhea tablets
  Marker Any personal/prescription medication, bring enough so you don’t run out
  Marker If you are bringing prescription medication, we recommend you also bring a copy of your doctor's prescription so as to avoid possible questions when you arrive
  Marker Let us know in advance of any medical condition you might have
  Marker A useful precaution - document your medical problems, recent medical history and medications taken, for your outfitter/PH. It will be of great help if medical treatment is necessary.

Guns/Bow

  Marker Guns- remember to bring the weapon you are most familiar with any .30 caliber is a good idea for plains game and min .375 for dangerous game.
  Marker Ammunition- premium grade bullets, please no ordinary soft nose
  Marker No semi automatic rifles/shotguns are allowed into the country, South Africa only.
  Marker Only 1 rifle per caliber is allowed, you can bring 2 different rifles, again only South Africa.
  Marker Only 200 rounds of ammunition per gun are allowed.
  Marker A good lockable gun case
  Marker Small field cleaning kit
  Marker Gun licenses OR proof of ownership of each firearm (obtainable from US Customs, form 4457)
  Marker Import permits - check with your PH/outfitter – we will arrange permits prior to your arrival
  Marker Knife
  Marker Bows - at least 60lb bow with three blade broad heads
  Marker Enough arrows, broad heads, and field points, maybe an extra string
  Marker Tools to work on bow if necessary

Trophies

  Marker Decide where and with whom you want to have your trophies mounted before your trip
  Marker Trophy tags from your taxidermist
  Marker Shipping details of taxidermist or tannery and also the details of the broker they use at port of entry
